Role Overview
The Oncology Charge Nurse (RN) provides leadership and support within a medical oncology unit, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Delegates tasks and supervises support staff
- Collaborates with medical providers to uphold care standards
- Mentors and trains new staff
- Monitors medical charts
- Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations
- Maintains accurate documentation
- Communicates protocol updates to staff
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum 1 year RN experience
- Current licensure or certification
- BLS required
- ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications preferred based on unit policies
