About the role
A charge nurse (RN) is essential to quality resident care. Duties include medication assistance/administration, nursing services, training/supervising staff, and ensuring resident well-being.
Responsibilities
- Train staff and assist the director of nursing
- Support dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents
- Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs), environmental orientation, assistance or administration with medication, treatments, and other care while encouraging self-care and independence, as permitted by state regulations
- Ensure care as indicated on resident treatment and service plans
- Know and follow infection control and safety procedures
- Review, update, and communicate resident care documentation
- Evaluate health emergencies to determine medical measures per nurse scope of practice and state regulations
Requirements
- A current registered nurse license in good standing
- Typical candidates have 1-year of providing supervision in healthcare. New grads are encouraged to apply!
Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare supervision is preferred but not required
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
