Charge Nurse - OR, Days

Overview

The hours are 7am - 3pm. Sign-on Bonus Available.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift.
• Provides clinical care as needed when census demands.
• Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s).
• Serves as resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Work Experience: 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required. 2 or more years preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
• ACLS Certification (Cardiac Tele, Critical Care, Surgical Services including Labor and Delivery) required
• PALS Certification (Emergency Department) required
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification - prior to independent chemotherapy administration (Infusion/Oncology) required
• NRP by the end of orientation period (Women's Services: Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery) required
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date (Labor and Delivery) required
• PEARS Certification (at Piedmont Athens Hospital) required
• PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Surgical Services) required
• ACLS and PALS Certification (Emergency Department) required
• Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 30 days to obtain the PALS certification

Addendum – All Nursing Disciplines

Unit-Specific Certifications

Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete within 6 months of start date) – within 180 days required.

Critical Care: ACLS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete within 6 months of start date) – within 180 days required.

Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete within 6 months of start date). Experienced ED nurses have 30 days to obtain PALS. TNCC Certifications required at: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton (within 1 year for residents/new). ENPC Certifications required at: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Newton (within 1 year for residents/new) – within 180 days required.

Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration – upon hire required.

Pediatrics: Identifies, reports and provides appropriate protective measures for high risk situations including abuse or neglect, failure to thrive and potential for abduction. PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital); PEARS Certification (required at Piedmont Athens Hospital) – within 180 days required.

Surgical Services: PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU/ARU – ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (residents/new to specialty complete within 6 months) – within 180 days required.

Women's Services: Labor and Delivery – ACLS Certification (residents/new within 6 months); NRP by end of orientation; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months. Mother/Baby – NRP by end of orientation. NICU – NRP by end of orientation. NAT (Newborn Admission Team) – NRP by end of orientation. Nursery – NRP by end of orientation – within 180 days required.
