About the Role

Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during the assigned shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Requirements

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting (required).
• 2 or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
• RN - Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia State and/or NLC/eNLC Multistate Licensure (required).
• BCLS - Basic Life Support certification (required).

Qualifications

Certifications by Specialty

• All Nursing Disciplines:
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable.
• Cardiac Tele:
  • ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Critical Care:
  • ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Emergency Department:
  • ACLS and PALS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
  • Experienced Emergency Department nurses must obtain PALS certification within 30 days.
  • TNCC Certification (required within 1 year at Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton).
  • ENPC Certification (required within 1 year at Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Newton).
• Infusion/Oncology:
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration (required upon hire).
• Pediatrics:
  • PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital).
  • PEARS Certification (required at Piedmont Athens Hospital).
• Surgical Services (PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU/ARU):
  • ACLS Certification; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Women's Services:
  • Labor and Delivery: ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty), NRP by the end of orientation, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months.
  • Mother/Baby: NRP by the end of orientation.
  • NICU: NRP by the end of orientation.
  • NAT (Newborn Admission Team): NRP by the end of orientation.
  • Nursery: NRP by the end of orientation.
