About the Role

Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care as needed when census demands.
• Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s).
• Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Requirements

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of nursing experience in a hospital setting (required).
• 2 or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNLC Multistate Licensure (required).
• BCLS - Basic Life Support (required).

• Cardiac Tele:
  • ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Critical Care:
  • ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Emergency Department:
  • ACLS and PALS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
  • Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 30 days to obtain PALS certification.
  • TNCC Certification (required within 1 year at Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton).
  • ENPC Certification (required within 1 year at Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Midtown, Piedmont Newton).
• Infusion/Oncology:
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration (required upon hire).
• Pediatrics:
  • Identifies, reports, and provides appropriate protective measures for high-risk situations including abuse or neglect, failure to thrive, and potential for abduction.
  • PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital).
  • PEARS Certification (required at Piedmont Athens Hospital).
• Surgical Services (PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU/ARU):
  • ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
  • PALS Certification if unit provides care to pediatric patients (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty).
• Women's Services:
  • Labor and Delivery: ACLS Certification (required within 180 days for Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty), NRP by the end of orientation, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date.
  • Mother/Baby: NRP by the end of orientation.
  • NICU: NRP by the end of orientation.
  • NAT (Newborn Admission Team): NRP by the end of orientation.
  • Nursery: NRP by the end of orientation.
