About the role

The RN - Charge Nurse shall be responsible to facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate unit activities for the provision of quality patient care during the assigned shift. This individual is responsible to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and will serve as a mentor to the staff.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the consistent ability to act as a role model by providing direction in the application of the nursing process, quality improvement standards, and organizational and department goal and objectives in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate unit activities for the provision of quality patient care during the assigned shift.
  • Serve as a mentor to the staff.
  • Work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Use computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Manage time and schedules.
  • Supervise and train employees, organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments.
  • Observe, assess, and record work, safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Minimum 1 year staff nurse experience required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Active RN licensure required, BLS required, Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned.
