Charge Nurse - Medical Surgical ICU Nights

About the role

Provides nursing leadership during a designated shift in a Medical Surgical ICU, supervising staff, ensuring safe patient care, and managing unit operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, mentors, and assigns staff based on availability, skills, census, and patient acuity.
• Provides direct patient care as needed and assists with problem-solving across staff.
• Evaluates patient care effectiveness, addresses complaints, and manages transfers, admissions, and discharges.
• Ensures staff have necessary equipment and supplies, and performs role-specific tasks within scope.
• Uses critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required within three years of assuming the role.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
