About the role
Responsible for leading and coordinating staffing in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Managed by a team of intensivists, the unit provides specialized care for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during shifts.
- Contribute to performance evaluations.
- Assess patient care needs and develop appropriate care assignments.
- Evaluate patient care effectiveness and address issues impacting outcomes.
- Respond to care-related complaints and manage through established channels.
- Provide input on staff hiring, training, development, and evaluation.
Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS certification required within 30 days; ACLS and PALS may be required within six months depending on unit.
- Diploma from an accredited nursing program with at least one year of relevant experience.
