Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with other departments in a professional manner to provide patient-centered care.

- Updates and upholds standards of practice and serves as a role model for others.
- Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize patient safety and reduce medical errors.
- Performs a head-to-toe assessment and reassesses patients as needed.
- Formulates and revises an individualized plan of care based on patient responses.
- Evaluates the plan daily for effectiveness and utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
- Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary and formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to all health care team members and consults other departments as needed.
- Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Reports significant events related to patient care and ensures handoff communication during shifts.
- Is proactive, rounds with team members, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Assigns and delegates patient care tasks as appropriate, considering staff members' experience and knowledge.
- Participates in process improvement activities and attends departmental staff meetings.
- Provides direct patient care as needed and assists other team members.
- Ensures patient flow is managed safely and effectively.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Fulfills the role of liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers, and administration.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families and communicates with social service/discharge planners.
- Functions flexibly, organizes well, and handles stressful situations professionally.
- Participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization.
- Trains and educates team members on new practice changes, regulatory requirements, and organizational practice changes.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure or unrestricted compact nurse license.
- Nursing degree, preferred.
- BSN, preferred.
- BLS certification, required.
- ACLS certification, required within 1 year of position start date.
- PALS certification, required within 1 year of position start date.
- Behavioral de-escalation training, required within 1 year of position start date.
- Minimum 1 year experience in department-specific area, preferred.
- Precepts other Charge RNs to the position as needed.
Additional Skills
