Chaplain Resident/Full-time/Ardmore

About the role

A Chaplain Resident is enrolled in Mercy Hospital Springfield's Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program. This program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, Inc.), which is nationally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties and responsibilities in alignment with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards.
• Engage in the intensive practice of ministry and reflection with peers, chaplain-mentors, preceptors, and Certified Educators.
• Provide spiritual care to patients, families, hospital personnel, and the broader community.

Requirements

• Graduate theological degree or equivalent training in progress or completed graduate degree in a related field.
• Enrolled in Mercy Hospital Springfield's Clinical Pastoral Education Residency Program.
• Completed CPE application.
• Admission interview with a qualified interviewer to assess readiness for CPE.
• Acceptance by the CPE center accredited for the appropriate program.

Qualifications

• Experience in a pastoral or ministry setting.
• Demonstrated ability and potential for continued growth in Mercy culture, reflection on experience, listening, self-disclosure, ethics and values, compassion, sense of service, and relationality.
• Computer skills including general computer competence, ease of use with Microsoft Word, email, entering data into a pre-existing database, and using a search engine.

Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrated ability and potential for continued growth in Mercy culture, reflection on experience, listening, self-disclosure, ethics and values, compassion, sense of service, and relationality.
• Comprehensive understanding of Mercy Service Standards.
