Chaplain PRN

About the role

The position of On-Call Chaplain supports the mission of Swedish Medical Center by providing compassionate and innovative care for patients and their families through our commitment to excellence, collaboration, education, and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Works in collaboration with the Director of Pastoral Care as well as with other Chaplains, physicians, nurses, social workers, and case managers in order to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the patient, family members and hospital staff.
• Documents all pastoral care visits and when necessary makes referrals to other hospital staff when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Pastoral Care Department.
• Must be willing to work weekend shifts, on call shifts nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to offer sacramental, spiritual and liturgical services for shifts as well as special events and holidays, as mutually agreed upon between Director of Pastoral Care and chaplain.

Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Working towards board certification with one of the following organizations: Spiritual Care Association Association of Professional Chaplains National Association of Catholic Chaplains National Association of Jewish Chaplains
• Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university. Must be in the process of pursuing a theological education from a recognized seminary or divinity school or has received a Master’s of Divinity or its equivalent from such. Will attend to necessary ecclesiastical endorsement or licensure requirements of faith tradition. Has completed 1 or more units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
• Experience: Minimum 1 Year Experience In Clinical Ministry Setting Preferred.

• Understanding of diverse theological perspectives, religious traditions and denominational polity.
• Demonstrates ability to anticipate problems and works effectively to resolve issues.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to patients, physicians, administration, chaplains and staff.
• Establishes priorities appropriately.

Pay

Hourly Wage Estimate: $23.10 - $34.67 / hour

Schedule

Must be willing to work weekend shifts, on call shifts nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
