Job Description
Affords spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, assisting them in their healing journey.
- Assesses spiritual needs of patients
- Provides focused attention to patients, loved ones, and staff
- Conveys personalized care to patients, families, and staff
- Enables patients, loved ones, and staff to experience God's nearness
- Assists with major health decisions
- Helps patients and loved ones find their spiritual center
- Visits patients, loved ones, and staff regularly
- Responds to emergencies, verifying patient identity, notifying family, and coordinating with staff, family, and legal authorities
- Documents and charts pastoral activities
- Promotes coordination of care by participating in interdisciplinary conferences
- Mentors chaplain interns and residents as assigned

Education
- Bachelor's in spiritual care, arts, or equivalent degree from college/university or institution accredited by the applicant’s institutional faith body [Required]
- Completion of deacon training and ordination [Required]
- Field of study: Bachelors Degree in spiritual care, arts, or equivalent degree from college/university or institution accredited by the applicant’s institutional faith body Required OR Completion of deacon training and ordination Required
Work Experience
- 1+ pastoral ministry [Preferred]
