About the role
The Staff Chaplain provides professional spiritual care to meet the needs of patients, families, and staff. They work alongside interdisciplinary health care colleagues to create a holistic care community that delivers whole person care.
Responsibilities
- Provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff members.
- Serves as a resource for spiritual guidance and support.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
- Completes established competencies within the first year of employment.
- Assists in developing and maintaining a supportive environment for patients and staff.
- May participate in training and educational programs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college or university.
- Graduate professional degree from an accredited theological school.
- Four units of certified Clinical Pastoral Education through ACPE, Inc., or NACC.
- Pastoral and/or chaplaincy experience of one year.
- Pastoral and/or chaplaincy experience of two years preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Qualifications
- Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological school preferred.
- One year residency from an accredited ACPE center preferred.
- Association of Professional Chaplains board certification (BCC) eligible; ecclesiastical endorsement required.
- Certification (BCC) by the Association of Professional Chaplains or an affiliate cognate group preferred.
- Required courses/completions (e.g., CPR) not specified.
