About the role
Member of the treatment team who provides for the spiritual needs of residents, families, and staff. The Chaplain assists patients/residents to understand more fully life's events as they relate to their spiritual and emotional well-being.
Essential Functions
- Foster an atmosphere of respect and dignity for spiritual needs.
- Offer religious and spiritual guidance to patients.
- Offer prayer or reflection.
- May participate in committees and patient conferences to enhance the continuity of care.
- Develop positive working relationships with members of the treatment team.
- Provide consultation and appropriate resources to the interdisciplinary and group therapists regarding the spiritual needs and requests of the patient as they relate to treatment.
- Keep documentation as required.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.
- When patient needs are acknowledged, work to resolve complaints.
- Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Completion of curriculum of theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral care required.
- Previous pastoral experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certification by an appropriate clinical pastoral agency.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
