Certified Veterinary Technician Oncology - Sign on bonus!
Pieper Veterinary is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center, a VECCS Level I Facility in Middletown, CT. You will work alongside expert oncologists, supporting advanced treatments and therapies that give pets the best chance at recovery and an improved quality of life. Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, and patient restraint.
- Assist with oncology treatments and chemotherapy (experience or knowledge in this area is a plus).
- Provide ongoing client communication, following the same patients throughout their treatment.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality patient care and contribute insights to improve outcomes.
- Knowledge of scheduling patients, receiving and treating them, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
- Use, care for, and store veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Apply sterilization techniques for instruments and materials.
- Prepare for and assist with a variety of treatments and procedures.
Requirements
- Associate's in veterinary technology is a plus.
- CVT license required for sign-on bonus.
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring.
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Knowledge of client service principles, including needs assessment and quality standards.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar and composition.
- Ability to work independently and accept direction on assignments.
Familiarity with CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow is a plus, but not required.
Schedule
Full-time position: 4 days a week / 10-hour shifts. Holidays are required.
Pay
Starting at $25.00-$32.00/hour dependent upon experience and education. Additional compensation for VTS. Sign-on bonus of $1,000.
