Certified Veterinary Technician

About the role

AESC of NWA is an emergency veterinary clinic located in Northwest Arkansas. We are dedicated to providing exceptional care for our patients and fostering a supportive, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage and prioritize incoming patients
• Place IV catheters, central lines, NG tubes, and nasal cannulas; perform blood draws and transfusions
• Assist with radiographs, barium studies, and ultrasound-guided procedures
• Provide intensive care for ICU patients, including chest tube maintenance and critical patient support
• Bandage, splint, and assist in surgery
• Prepare and interpret fecals, blood smears, and cytologies
• Mentor and train less experienced staff
• Partner with DVMs to provide patient care, comfort, and client education

Qualifications

• Current CVT (or eligible for certification)
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive team-oriented attitude
• Ability to arrive on time and ready to work in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Accurate medical recordkeeping and client history documentation
• Proficiency in safe, low-stress restraint of patients
• Competence in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin) and lab processing
• Proficiency in positioning and capturing quality radiographs
• Experience in anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery (1+ year preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of clinical experience (ER or specialty preferred, but not required)
• Familiarity with preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
• Confidence in advanced skills (e.g., central lines, NG tubes, CRI calculations) or a strong desire to learn!
• Able to accept and integrate constructive feedback to maintain efficiency and patient safety
• A self-starter mindset with motivation to expand knowledge, pursue specialization, or step into leadership
