Certified Teaching Assistant, Probationary - Middle School

Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a Certified Teacher.

Qualifications

• NYSD Certification as a Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects
• Provide the teacher with information about students to assist in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences
• Assist students in the use of available instructional resources and in the development of instructional materials
• Utilize special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, music, and similar subjects
• Assist in related instructional work as required
• Assist students with specific health-related activities as appropriate
• Maintain instructional materials and manual/electronic files/records (e.g., lessons, attendance, supplies) to ensure availability and meet mandated requirements
• Perform general clerical tasks to help the teacher prepare instructional materials
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Pay

$20.09 - $34.28/hour (2026/2027)
