Certified Teacher – Afterschool Program, Part-Time

About the role

This position provides academic enrichment support during afterschool mentoring sessions, assists with lesson delivery, and reinforces core skill-building activities aligned with the Botvin LifeSkills and Positive Action curricula. The role also assists with data collection and program reports as identified by the Program Manager. It is based in Broward County and reports to the Program Manager, M-PACT.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating aptitude levels (particularly math and reading) of all participants to place and further their academic performance
• Conducting pre, mid, and post tests on math and reading/literacy
• Providing middle and high school students with homework assistance
• Working with Youth Prevention Specialists to determine specific student needs
• Providing required weekly activity reports on students’ progress and areas of need
• Assisting with maintaining a calendar of activities for the assigned group
• Providing students with positive and constructive feedback
• Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom
• Developing and distributing teaching materials to supplement classroom lessons, including study guides
• Assuring the safety and security of children
• Ensuring compliance with confidentiality of student information
• Ensuring children are always supervised
• Reporting all unusual incidents in writing as required by DCF
• Establishing positive rapport with parents
• Complying with timely completion of required assignments
• Communicating the needs of children and parents to the Program Manager weekly

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education
