About the Role

Join our surgical services team as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Our Operating Room Suite consists of 15 procedure rooms, performing 50-60 cases daily and approximately 18,000 surgical procedures annually. The upgraded facility provides an aseptic environment and state-of-the-art instrumentation, available 24/7 for inpatient, outpatient, major, minor, and emergency procedures. This position supports the surgical team during all phases of procedural care in the Main or Ambulatory Operating Room, Endoscopy, and CVMP departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and clinical support to the perioperative team during surgical procedures.
  • Performs duties as the primary scrub person, handling instrumentation, supplies, and equipment.
  • Anticipates the surgeon’s and procedural needs.
  • Performs sterilization and disinfection procedures according to policy.
  • Supports patient care activities of the perioperative team.
  • Adheres to safety standards within the service.
  • Maintains supplies, instrumentation, and equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Utilizes Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Participates in orientation, annual competencies, and continuing education.
  • Educates patients and families in specialty areas.
  • Participates in orienting and precepting other Surgical Technologists.
  • Engages in staff and employee meetings.
  • Contributes to Performance Improvement using plan, do, check, and act methodology.
  • Identifies areas needing improvement and participates in planning and implementing change.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the hospital’s mission, including customer service and cost-effectiveness.
  • Adheres to personnel policies related to risk management, infection control, fire/safety, and hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved medically based and/or certificate program in Surgical Technology or graduate of an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing with current or eligible licensure in New York State.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to handle equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to work effectively in task-oriented situations.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach.

Benefits

$5,000 new-hire bonus.

Pay

Pay Range: $28.50 - $39.40 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The range may vary based on location.
