Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) for a contract position in Carlsbad, NM.
About the Role
This position involves preparing the operating room, setting up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions during surgery. Duties also include passing instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon, managing the sterile field, and performing a count of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects. The position requires certification from a CAAHEP-accredited program or other programmatically-accredited surgical technology program and the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, setting up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
- Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon
- Manage the sterile field and specimens during surgery
- Perform a count of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical equipment
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in surgical technology
- BLS certification
- Experience with general, ortho, OBGYN, podiatry, urology, plastics, endo, trauma, and robotics (DaVinci)
- Adult and pediatric experience
Qualifications
- Fingerprints for all NM travelers are required
- No option for 48 hr. guarantee
- No option for blocked scheduling
- Hospital scrubs provided
- EMR: MedHost (Inpatient), PICIS (OR)
- Facility size: 99 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Monthly department volume: 250-300 procedures

Schedule
The shift is 4x10hr days, with a start time of 7:00 AM and an end time of 5:30 PM. There is a call requirement of 1 weekday per week at minimum, with a weekend rotation. On-call shifts are from 15:30-07:00, Saturday and Sunday 07:00-07:00.
