Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
About the Role
Substance use counselor will assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for managing opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual and group sessions to help with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patients’ progress, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to support patients’ overall outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity with the 12 Core Functions of Counseling
- Provide individual and group counseling services; coordinate all services throughout treatment
- Complete bio-psychosocial assessments
- Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
- Develop aftercare and discharge plans
- Facilitate, establish, and review the initial treatment plan with each patient
- Ensure accurate and current clinical records are maintained in accordance with Federal and State Regulations governing NTP clinics
- Other related duties as determined by supervisor
Requirements
- Current addiction/substance abuse certification (CAC, CADC I or above) is required
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals
- Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward patient population
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
