About Our Program
Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
Our program location: Pittsburgh Job Corps, 7175 Highland Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement all programs related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant and Health Services staff, center physician, and Center Director.
- Coordinate all programs designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse in compliance with the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines.
- Conduct in-service training sessions with both staff and students in all areas related to substance use and abuse.
- Submit recommendations to the Center Director for medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, Health and Wellness Manager (RN), etc.
- Monitor behavior and progress of students involved in the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program.
- Maintain confidential reports and records on all referrals and cases.
Requirements
- Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification, or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) required.
- One year of work-related experience preferred; experience working with youth preferred.
- Master’s degree and previous experience with disadvantaged youth, particularly in a residential setting, preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
