Position Summary
Under the department leadership, the Instrument Technician provides support services in the perioperative setting, including main OR, Short Stay Unit, and the PACU and all other hospital departments. Duties include cleaning, assembling equipment, sterilizing and disinfecting supplies, instruments, and equipment according to established policies and procedures. Material management functions are also performed in relation to par levels. Accurate documentation of the sterilization process is maintained.
Experience
- Previous experience in sterile processing or current certification in sterile processing required.
Education
- A high school diploma, G.E.D. required.
- Completion of a sterile processing course or equivalent work experience in instrument processing required.
Licensure/Certifications
- Certification from HSPA – CRCST or CBSPD – CSPDT required.
Assigned Work Hours
M-F 8am-4:30pm rotating weekends; occasional rotating shifts.
