About the role
This position is responsible for ensuring efficient operation of the facility under the direction of the facility leader. As a Certified Senior Medical Assistant, you will work in a Medical Home or medical group setting, contributing to patient care teams. Your duties include rooming patients, coordinating test results, educating patients, and assisting with care gaps. You will also serve as a resource, providing education to other medical assistants on various topics.
Responsibilities
- Room patients promptly and escort them to examination rooms.
- Take vital signs according to guidelines.
- Maintain examination room stock and document patient communications.
- Prepare lab specimens and complete referral forms.
- Schedule patients for tests and handle phone calls.
- Administer treatments and medications as per provider orders.
- Absorb and comply with medical group standards for care quality.
- Assist in daily duties such as competency and quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments and entities.
- Accurately collect demographic, clinical, and financial information from patients.
- Absorb and comply with federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements.
Requirements
- Graduation from Medical Assistant school preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a clinical health care position, with at least 1 year as a medical assistant.
- Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant.
- Current AHA BLS certification within 90 days.
- One of the following certifications: CCMA, CMAC, CMA, NRCMA, RMA, NREMT.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required certification within 90 days.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Basic math skills.
- Computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements and access online forms and policies.
