Assists in preparation for patient care, provides care coordination, clinical documentation, and other clinical support functions in a physician practice office setting. This position is eligible for a $5,000 retention bonus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for physician/provider examination and administer injections and immunizations.
- Perform laboratory testing, EKGs, and other medical office testing and procedures.
- Schedule appointments, testing procedures, and work both front office and clinical areas as assigned.
- Apply medical knowledge and critical thinking skills to assist physicians with proficient and comprehensive documentation.
- Arrange for diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, and hospital admission.
- Perform required phlebotomy, administer injections, immunizations, and other special procedures, including venipuncture and cleansing wounds/lesions sites.
- Measure and record at least three vital signs per patient visit.
- Perform telephone triage: ask details of illness, answer questions, ensure information is available, and review phone calls with the nurse practitioner or physician as appropriate.
- Maintain waiting room, examination rooms, and offices; order supplies as required.
- Contribute to team building through support of management decisions and participation in performance improvement activities.
- Train other Medical Assistants.
- Notify management of changes in workload.
- Complete all educational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a qualified Medical Assistant course.
- Preferred: One (1) or more years of Medical Office experience, previous patient care experience in the physician office specialty area.
Qualifications
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
