Certified Senior Medical Assistant

This position is responsible for ensuring the facility operates efficiently under the direction of the facility leader. As a Certified Senior Medical Assistant, you will work in a Medical Home or medical group setting, contributing to the patient’s care team.

About the role

• Room patients promptly and track and coordinate test results
• Assist with educating patients and closing care gaps
• Provide education to other medical assistants on workflow, processes, and point-of-care testing
• Float to various sites within the health system

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms
• Take vital signs as per guidelines
• Maintain examination room stock
• Document all patient communications
• Prepare lab specimens for processing
• Complete necessary referral forms and obtain authorizations
• Schedule patients for tests
• Place and receive phone calls in order of importance
• Filing into patient charts
• Administer treatments and medications per provider order
• Absorb back-office duties including but not limited to: preparing lab specimens, scheduling patients, and filing into patient charts
• Absorb daily duties such as competency and quality assurance
• Represent Renown Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values
• Ensure compliance with medical group standards for care delivery and quality
• Promote teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with other departments, entities, physicians, and outside agencies
• Accurately collect demographic, clinical, and financial information in person or via telephone interviews
• Provide patient care

Requirements

• Graduation from Medical Assistant school preferred
• 2 years of experience in a clinical health care position with minimum of 1 year as a medical assistant
• Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant or an application must be submitted within 90 days of employment (excludes departments: 200279, 200280, 200282, 200305, 200317, 200386, 200399, 200410, 200415, 515316, 515317, 530279, 530285, 530288, 530308, 530317, 530367, 530396, 530399)
• Current AHA BLS required within 90 days
• One of the following certifications required at time of hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), State of Nevada EMT certification (advanced or paramedic)
• Ability to obtain and maintain one of the above certifications within 90 days
• Computer / Typing skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
