Certified Medical Assistant
Overview
The CERTIFIED Medical Assistant at SMG Internal Medicine Port Warwick in Newport News, VA, performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Position Details
- Full-time | Monday – Friday
- 40 hours per week
- Typical schedule: approximately 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., depending on provider workflow
- Up to a $5,000 Sign-On Bonus available for eligible candidates
Overview
The CERTIFIED Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CERTIFIED Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate).
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes.
- Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
- Productive and efficient in daily operations.
- Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
Requirements
- Education REQUIRED: High School Diploma OR equivalency
- Certification REQUIRED: Must have one of the following on the first day of employment: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B)
- BLS within 90 days of hire date
- Experience: Phlebotomy experience
