Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the respiratory regimen and assist with pulmonary participant support in the pulmonary rehabilitation program.
• Perform blood pressure checks on all participants pre and post exercise.
• Monitor oximetry responses pre, post, and during exercise.
• Assess participants' progress pre, during, and post exercise and make appropriate recommendations on continued care to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director.
• Assist in data collection for exercise prescription as needed.
• Assist with the orientation of new participants, the initial respiratory assessment, and in the development of the plan of care with other staff members.
• Chart and document initial assessment and daily participant information and progress.
• Attend pulmonary rehabilitation team conferences to report participant progress and contribute to team planning of future goals for the pulmonary rehab program.
• Immediately report any significant abnormal participant conditions (e.g., unusual oxygen saturations, dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, changes in participant's status).
• Initiate emergency care according to program policy.
• Instruct participants in all relevant Pulmonary Rehab educational topics to facilitate successful completion of the Phase 2 program.
• Lead participant education sessions when appropriate.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor participants for inappropriate responses to exercises.
• Recommend timely interventions and the need for further treatment or referral in the participant's respiratory care regimen.
• Assist in data collection for exercise prescription and Individualized Treatment Plan as needed.
• Organize and prepare all activities and needs for daily classes, including preparing tanks, daily exercise sheets, and equipment.
• Lead and/or assist with quarterly patient outcomes and audit measures.
• Assist with the orientation of new participants, the initial and discharge sessions including a multifaceted assessment, and development of the plan of care.
• Handle scheduling and billing in EPIC.
• Manage referrals for prospective participants.
• Perform Pulmonary Function Testing.

Requirements

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA).
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Certificate of Completion: Respiratory Therapy or Associate's Degree: Respiratory Therapy.
• Work experience in a related field.

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $28.82 per hour - $49.57 per hour. The actual compensation offered will be dependent on factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
