Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in the professional practice setting.
- Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
- Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.
- Identify patient problems and collaborate with the Anesthesia / Surgeon / Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions (tasks).
- Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate the perioperative care.
- Promotes a healthy work environment through promotion of professional communication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problem resolution.
- Certain duties include conducting appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments, managing anesthesia care, providing airway management, and anticipating and exceeding patients' expectations.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia.
- Master’s degree required.
- Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with anesthesiologists and other health care providers.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in obstetric anesthesia.
- State of Michigan RN License.
- State Specialty Certification.
- CRNA Certification.
- ALS Certification.
- PALS Certification.
- BLS Certification.
General Summary
Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during obstetrical deliveries and procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all A.S.A. classes of patients. Will work in a care team model but must be proficient to autonomously perform spinals, epidurals, and manage cesarean section and obstetric emergencies. 2,500-3,000 deliveries per year.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties. Work is performed in P1, Henry Ford Main’s new endoscopy suite. Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards. Driving may be required, dependent on specialty.
