Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), San Diego (Per Diem)

About the Role

Under the medical supervision of an Anesthesiologist, administers general and regional anesthesia for all types of surgical, obstetrical, and other procedures requiring anesthesia services to patients of various age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Responsibilities include airway management, maintenance of fluid balance, homeostasis, monitoring, response to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and management of patients on ventilators.

Responsibilities

• Uphold Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
• Comply with organizational rules, policies, and procedures (e.g., TJC, Title 22, Regional, and Department requirements).
• Evaluate patients pre-operatively by interviewing and examining the patient; review charts for relevant information.
• Collaborate with the anesthesiologist to select the appropriate anesthetic based on pre-operative examination.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process in delivering services to patients of all age groups.
• Evaluate patient response to pre-medication and communicate with the surgeon and anesthesiologist regarding special concerns.
• Check anesthesia equipment daily and between cases to ensure safe operating conditions.
• Prepare drugs for administration and administer anesthesia in accordance with delineated clinical privileges.
• Monitor the patient intraoperatively and evaluate operative and post-operative conditions to maintain stability.
• Evaluate patients postoperatively (within 24 hours).
• Precept student nurse anesthetists.
• Maintain accurate accounting of controlled substances in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Maintain equipment and supplies as outlined in department policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients, staff, and other personnel.
• Perform other duties within the scope of licensure/certification as required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an educational program in Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools.
• Registered Nurse License (California).
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) certification.
• National Provider Identifier.
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist National Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in anesthesia for major procedures involving extensive monitoring and fluid, blood, and electrolyte replacement for patients of various age groups.

Skills

• Technical and clinical proficiency in anesthesia administration and related techniques within the scope of practice defined by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
• Professional skills in charting, documentation, and knowledge of equipment and supplies.
• Productivity, job and personal maturity, communication, and education and staff development.

Pay

$148.12 - $157.12 per hour.

Schedule

• Per Diem (as needed).
• Variable shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun).
• 75% travel may be required.
