Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

About the role

Candidate must be able to work 20 weeks per year with at least 9 weekends of call per year.

Responsibilities

• Administers anesthesia and anesthesia-related care.
• Maintains vital life functions during anesthesia administration.
• Monitors and supports vital life functions.
• Acts as the patient's advocate while under anesthesia.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities (CQI).

Requirements

• Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Nurse Anesthetist credentialed from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire)
• Knowledge of principles of growth and development and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient, neonate through geriatric.
• Ability to intubate most patients with ease, manage the patient’s airway and pulmonary status through the perioperative process.
• Prevent and manage complications through selecting, obtaining, ordering and administering medications, fluids or ventilator support in correct dosages and methods.
• Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patient and family.
• Responds to emergency situations requiring anesthesia services, knowledge or technique throughout the organization.
