Job Description
Collaborates with the surgical team, providing and utilizing a variety of anesthetics for medical and surgical procedures. Cares for the patient during the course of the anesthetic including preoperative assessment, administration and maintenance, and recovery.
- Performs a preoperative assessment/chart review of the patient to formulate an anesthetic plan according to the individual needs of the patient.
- Responds appropriately to any significant physiological, anesthesia changes and treats accordingly, informing the staff anesthesiologist when appropriate.
- Provides for optimum resuscitative care for life threatening conditions and/or emergent situations in the hospital.
- Affords assistance with orientation of new CRNA staff and with the orientation and instruction of student nurse anesthetists and other anesthesia personnel.
- Participates in research projects as directed; implements anesthesia practice changes based on research findings and current standards by demonstrating the use of accepted anesthesia technology and pharmacology.
- Demonstrates professional and ethical conduct and compassion in all patient interactions and demonstrates respect and concern for all members of the healthcare team.
Education Requirement
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing, required. Graduate of an accredited school of nurse anesthesia with eligibility for membership with the AANA and completion of the NBCRNA national examination, required.
Licensure Requirement
- RN in the State of Ohio, APN in the state of Ohio, required.
- ACLS and BLS, required.
- PALS certification within 12 months of hire, required.
Skills
Skilled in Providing Anesthesia. Experience New graduates acceptable.
