Certified Recreation Therapist (CTRS)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Certified Recreational Therapist to assess and develop leisure activities, facilitate age-appropriate therapy groups, and establish behavioral goals in a hospital setting. This role requires flexibility to work with diverse populations, including children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or chemical dependency issues.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe therapeutic environment
• Supervise clients during activities
• Empower clients through recreational therapy
• Teach coping strategies and life skills
• Develop and implement leisure activity plans
• Facilitate age-appropriate therapy groups
• Establish and monitor behavioral goals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Leisure Management, Recreational Therapy, or related field
• Current CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification
• Minimum one year of experience working with mental health populations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in activity therapy and group leadership
• Crisis management skills
• Understanding of developmental stages across age groups
