About the role
The Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) position supports individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. This role plays a vital role as a mentor, role model, advocate, and motivator, helping individuals prevent relapse and achieve long-term recovery.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals in initiating and sustaining recovery from substance use disorders through peer-based services
- Aid individuals in establishing and maintaining connections with community-based recovery supports and resources
- Facilitate regularly scheduled one-on-one recovery support sessions focused on strengths, goals, and wellness
- Empower individuals to develop self-advocacy skills, independence, and personal responsibility for recovery
- Collaborate with treatment teams, families, service providers, and community partners to support recovery goals
- Encourage engagement in sober social, recreational, educational, vocational, and employment opportunities
- Advocate for individuals while promoting skill-building and self-advocacy
- Connect individuals to mutual-help groups, social clubs, volunteer opportunities, and employment resources
- Provide recovery education tailored to the individual’s stage of recovery
- Serve as a positive role model, sharing personal recovery experience when appropriate and clinically indicated
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services, progress, goals, and outcomes
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and continuing education activities
Requirements
- Active Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) certification at time of hire
- One (1) year of direct peer support experience preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of 18 hours of continuing education annually, including 30 hours over a two-year certification cycle, in accordance with PCB CRS recertification standards
Qualifications
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery-oriented systems of care
- Ability to engage individuals at varying stages of readiness and recovery
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Possession of strong organizational and documentation skills
- Possession of excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills

Pay
- Compensation is commensurate with experience

- Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
