Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist - New Hyde Park

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center offering sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care across virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery.

Responsibilities

• Performs and coordinates delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities, and instrumentation related to diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery, and emergency management procedures related to performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
• Demonstrates proficiency in pulmonary function laboratory operations.
• Provides appropriate instruction/education to laboratory staff, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, affiliated students, and other members of the Medical Center community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• One of the following credentials:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) with a New York State Respiratory Therapist license, or
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the NBRC with a New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician license, or
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) by the NBRC.
• Computer competency, including a basic understanding of and ability to work with Microsoft Windows-based pulmonary function software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care, cardiorespiratory sciences, or a related area recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy.
• Two years of full-time acute care hospital Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) laboratory experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $58,223.93 - $100,436.29 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
