Pulmonary Function Technologist

Responsibilities
- Ensure and coordinate delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies and supervision of pulmonary function laboratory staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities, and instrumentation related to diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide appropriate instruction/education to laboratory staff, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, affiliated students, and other members of the Medical Center community.
- Demonstrate proficiency in management of pulmonary function laboratory operations; provide leadership, guidance, and progressive discipline to assigned staff as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment, clinical aerosol delivery, and emergency management procedures related to performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the calibration and operation of laboratory equipment and performance of diagnostic pulmonary function testing.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy.
- New York State respiratory technician license.
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT), with CPFT specialty credential within a year of hire.
- Computer competency, including a basic understanding of, and ability to work with, Microsoft Windows-based pulmonary function software programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Licenses: Respiratory Therapist License - NYS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in respiratory care, cardiorespiratory sciences, or related area as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- New York State respiratory therapist license (preferred).
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC - RRT credential) with RPFT specialty credential (preferred).
- Two years of full-time acute care hospital PFT laboratory experience, including at least one year of PFT laboratory management experience (preferred).

Pay
The salary range for this role is $116,530.55 - $128,796.92 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
