Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of policing and law enforcement activities including patrol, investigative, and enforcement functions.
• Provide safety for the public and enforce laws and ordinances.
• Assist in directing traffic and transporting prisoners.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing tasks.

Requirements

• Current State of Florida Certified Police Officer
• United States Citizen
• High School Graduate or G.E.D.
• Pass Physical Agility Test (PAT)
• Pass Swim Test
• Pass Oral Board Examination
• Pass Polygraph Examination
• Pass Psychological Screening (Law)
• Pass an extensive background investigation
• Pass a Chief and/or Command Staff review
• Pass an extensive medical evaluation
• Pass drug detection by urinalysis test
• Meet current State training requirements
• Stable work history
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to exercise discretion
• Good moral character, no felony convictions, and no incidents of violence
• Military discharge must be "Honorable"

Pay

The starting salary range for Police Officers is $61,229.95 annually for the C/starting step and $74,425.38 annually for the G/4 step, based on previous law enforcement experience.

The City of Hollywood operates on a 4-day work week schedule.
