About the role

The City of Canon City is a Home Rule Municipality and the county seat of Fremont County. It is a Council-Administrator form of government with the Administrator reporting directly to the City Council. Cañon City was founded in 1858 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and is located in the Southcentral part of Colorado. It is a popular tourist destination known for whitewater rafting, sightseeing, and rock climbing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain public order
• Protect the lives and property of Canon City residents, business owners, and visitors

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience as Police Officer I in the Canon City Police Department (CCPD)
• One (1) year of experience with CCPD and Three (3) years of experience with another law enforcement agency
• Five (5) years of experience with another law enforcement agency
• U.S. Citizen and 21 years of age at the time of swearing in
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A valid Colorado Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one within sixty (60) days of hire, with an acceptable driving record to the City of Cañon City
• A Certified Colorado Police Officer

Benefits

$10,000 Hiring Bonus: $2,500 at commencement of employment, $2,500 after successful completion of Field Training Program, and $5,000 after one year of service post Field Training.
