Responsibilities
- Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for laboratory analysis under the supervision of the Laboratory Director/Manager/Supervisor.
- Perform computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties.
- Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
- Exhibit good communication skills and telephone etiquette when interacting with patients and visitors.
- Apply proper phlebotomy techniques and use equipment for specimen collection from newborns to geriatric patients.
- Process specimens for microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.
- Prepare specimens for referral to reference laboratories.
- Stock and order routine supplies, maintaining cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and work areas.
- Process or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation following established policies and procedures.
- Pick up samples at hospital/OR, assist in sorting samples for analysis, and handle sample storage.
- Assist with pathology tasks, inventory, supply replenishment, mail delivery, faxing, phone answering, and product deliveries.
- May work across multiple departments or night/graveyard shifts.
- May be delegated as a Phlebotomy Lead.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the department manager/director.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency.
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician through NHA, ASCP, or similar.
- BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current.
- Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $17.33 to $25.09 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Schedule
Night shift: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM, with rotating holidays and weekends.
