Job Summary

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the ongoing duties and responsibilities of pharmacists. The position involves assisting with the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications, applying departmental processes for inventory control, and providing customer service.

Position Highlights

  • Location: Vanderbilt Outpatient Pharmacy (The Vanderbilt Clinic)
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm
  • No weekends
  • Must have PTCB or NHA certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Preferred retail/outpatient pharmacy experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid the pharmacist in preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications
  • Apply departmental processes for inventory control
  • Perform tasks as directed by pharmacists and pharmacy managers
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology

Technical Capabilities

  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy: Basic understanding of computers or successful completion of training for applications supporting medication use processes
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution: Fundamental proficiency to review, prepare, dispense, and distribute prescribed medications
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance: Working knowledge of rules and regulations, including the principles underlying them
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management: Fundamental proficiency in maintaining inventory levels and managing records

  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
