Position Highlights

This position will be located at the Vanderbilt Outpatient Pharmacy (The Vanderbilt Clinic).

Hours are Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm. No weekends.

Hours and shift are subject to change with advance notice given.

Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.

Retail/outpatient pharmacy experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Affords assistance to the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.

Technical Capabilities

  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrated basic understanding of computers or successfully completed training for applications supporting medication use processes.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): Fundamental proficiency to review, prepare, dispense and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): Working knowledge of rules and regulations applicable to the department and work areas.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): Fundamental proficiency in drug inventory and records management.

Position Qualifications

  • Certifications: LIC-Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee
  • Work Experience: Less than 1 year
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
