About the role

The Certified Pharmacy Tech, Research works closely with the Research Pharmacist and provides support in the management and maintenance of investigational products. The role involves proper handling, accountability, inventory management, documentation, and preparation of investigational products under the direct supervision of a research pharmacist.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and maintains accountability of investigational products (IP) in the Vestigo system.
  • Affirms and maintains proper storage of IP.
  • Prepares oral and intravenous investigational products (IP) in accordance with research protocols under direct supervision of a licensed Research Pharmacist.
  • Maintains current inventory of IP and follows processes to reorder IP in advance of expiration.
  • Aids the Research Pharmacist with the closure of studies and appropriate accountability of investigational products.
  • Aids the Pharmacy Coordinator with the appropriate review of oncology product pre-expiration stock rotation and preparation for reverse distribution.
  • Maintains competency in preparing IV investigational admixtures.
  • Safeguards the filling areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Refers requests for drug information to a registered pharmacist.
  • Aids the pharmacist in maintaining the security of drug supplies.
  • Aids with the distribution and delivery of medication to patient care areas as necessary.
  • Provides appropriate documentation wherever and whenever required.
  • Performs tasks associated with automated equipment and maintains appropriate records as designated.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations and Medical Center policies and procedures relating to drug dispensing, including appropriate handling of investigational drug products, adherence to security procedures, and completion of necessary documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or home infusion setting.
  • Hospital experience with knowledge of accountability and handling of investigational products.
  • Successfully complete Citi Training or equivalent (will be required on site).
  • Knowledge of unit dose dispensing and IV admixtures.
  • Pharmacy Stars or equivalent sterile compounding competency (will be required on site).
  • Licenses and Certifications Required: Pharmacy Technician License, PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician or NHA Certified Pharmacy Tech (CPT or ExCPT).

Pay

Minimum rate of $27.13 Hourly
