Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.

Technical Capabilities

  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): Possesses sufficient proficiency to review, prepare, dispense and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): Has a basic understanding of computers or has completed necessary training.

  • Organizational Impact: Performs routine tasks that may impact team's performance with occasional guidance.
  • Problem Solving/Complexity of Work: Utilizes discretion and research to solve routine problems.
  • Breadth of Knowledge: Applies knowledge of standards, established processes and procedures that apply to the job.
  • Team Interaction: Provides guidance to entry-level co-workers.

Position Qualifications

  • Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician - National Healthcareer Association, Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, LIC-Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience in a pharmacy setting, less than 1 year.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program.
