Responsibilities
- Makes rounds and delivers labeled medications, controlled substances and pharmaceutical supplies
- Maintains accurate documentation on the Controlled Substances Administration Log on the patient care areas
- Maintains drug supply and manages inventory
- Laboratory and compounding of medications
- Provides answers to phone inquiries and refers questions to appropriate personnel
- Interprets physicians' orders and enters into the computer system
- Generates labels and fills drug orders according to physicians' orders
- Fills drug replacement orders to various departments accurately and maintains par levels
- Returns drug credits to pharmacy stock
- Aids in processing discharges and issuing credit, if necessary on all returned drugs
- Stocks shelves and notes drugs expiring or needing ordering
- Aids in the initiation, development, maintenance, and execution of rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies set by the Pharmacy Department
- Ensures all work areas are clean, neat, and orderly
- Keeps up-to-date knowledge of the pharmacy computer system from the perspective of a user
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician License
- Current BLS/CPRE
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Hospital experience
