Position Highlights

Vanderbilt University Hospital is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the Inpatient Central Pharmacy!

Hours are Monday - Friday rotating between 5:00am - 1:30pm and 6:00am - 2:30pm. Every third weekend rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.

Technical Capabilities

  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrated basic understanding of computers or successfully completed training for applications supporting medication use processes.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): Fundamental proficiency to review, prepare, dispense and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): Working knowledge of rules and regulations, maintains current understanding, facilitates processes supporting rules and regulations, demonstrates knowledge of process improvement, quality assurance, and/or programs, understands principles underlying rules and regulations, demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement, supports compliance with regulations.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): Fundamental proficiency in drug inventory and records management, maintains appropriate inventory levels of medications, collects, organizes, and/or maintains evaluations of pharmacy or patient-related information.

  • Experience: Relevant Work Experience: Experience Level: Less than 1 year
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
