Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare new patient profiles
- Perform limited designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications
- Proficiently operate the cash register, including opening and closing functions
- Accurately and correctly utilize the pharmacy operation's computer software system
- Effectively perform and accurately record all assigned quality control activities based on established procedures and protocols
- Continuously demonstrate and achieve all established customer service standards
- Answer the telephone, triage calls to the appropriate person, and take messages
- Assist in ensuring the pharmacy and related equipment are cleaned and maintained based on established policy and procedures
- Strictly maintain all pharmacy-established Quality Assurance activities
- Maintain necessary work skills and knowledge by reviewing literature and attending in-services and seminars
- Follow established channels of authority and communication throughout the organization
- Attend designated departmental meetings
- Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding pharmacy services
- Perform any other additional duties reasonably requested, including operating the cash register and opening/closing pharmacy operations
Requirements
- Good knowledge of retail pharmacy procedures, practices, and equipment relating to operating a cash register and pharmacy clerical support job functions
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills
- Ability to effectively and professionally represent the company
- Strong ability to positively interact with other people, including company customers
- Some knowledge of principles and practices of pharmacy business administration
- Some knowledge of functions, organizations, and governing laws and regulations of pharmacy
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year's experience in retail pharmacy as a pharmacy sales support, clerk, or cashier position
- Possess a working knowledge of basic drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and drug use
