Certified Pharmacy Technician

About the role

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist the Pharmacist in preparing medication and medical supply orders for delivery to patients. The position involves patient and public interaction, clerical tasks, and emergency duties.

Responsibilities

• Affixes medications and medical supplies to patients' orders under the Pharmacist's supervision.
• Fills medication orders, medication cart drawers, and floor stock requests accurately and efficiently for verification.
• Replenishes medications in emergency boxes and carts, and floor stock areas as needed.
• Maintains accurate patient information on patient profiles and processes billing.
• Maintains complete files and monitors inventory and inventory management initiatives.
• Processes and fills Medication Dispensing Machines on a routine basis.
• Maintains accurate electronic records of required information per USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines.
• Monitors compounding and testing documentation for compliance with USP 797 and 800 guidelines.
• Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule.
• Conducts and documents unit inspection audits of assigned areas monthly.
• Maintains temperature logs of refrigerators, freezers, and warmers for appropriate range.
• Performs medication reconciliation for patients admitted to the hospital and properly documents any changes to their medications.
• Pick ups orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
• Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately.
• Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
• Responds to concerns and inquiries by patients, doctors, and hospital personnel.
• May be required to work emergency duties including responding to threats or disasters.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Six (6) months experience preferred. Knowledge of commonly used medical and pharmacy symbols and abbreviations, as well as some general understanding about laws and regulations affecting the pharmacy profession.

Qualifications

• Current, Valid State of Florida Pharmacy Technician license required.
