Certified Pharmacy Technician

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients, health care providers, and insurers.
  • Counting, labeling, and reconstituting prescription medications.
  • Packaging medications into blister cards or multi-dose packages utilizing automated processes.
  • Inputting and retrieving information through the pharmacy system and point-of-sale system.
  • Maintaining accurate patient and client profiles.
  • Assisting the pharmacist with managing inventory.
  • Preparing reports related to sales, usage, inventory and med sync through the automated dispensing machines.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment, work areas, and shelves.
  • Delivery Routing and Packaging Completed Prescriptions for Delivery to Patients or Facilities.
  • Immunization Certification and CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of different Electronic Medical Administration Records and their integration into Pharmacy Dispensing Systems and utilizing that knowledge in relation to pharmacy management systems.

Qualifications and Education

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician-in-Training in good standing.
  • No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent leadership qualities.
  • Ability to perform accurately and oversee data entry, dispensing of medications, maintaining proper inventory, patient conversations and other related skills.
  • Able to grasp information at a quick pace and apply the information to pharmacy systems in order to meet deadlines for patients and clients.
  • Able to work with a dynamic team and excel within the team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and network.
  • Strong computer skills to operate pharmacy management software and other necessary programs.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and pharmaceutical chemistry and manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding pharmacy.

Preferred

  • Preference if previous Long Term Care Experience.
  • Affinity for applications and pharmacy dispensing systems such as Prime Care, DocuTrack, Delivery Track, and PioneerRx.
  • Knowledge of Synmed, RapidPak, and Nexsys.
