Certified Peer Support Specialist / CPSS / TMS Team South

About the role

We are hiring for a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) / TMS Team South position. This role involves providing highly individualized services in the community and promoting self-determination and decision-making for individuals with mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual developmental disabilities. The position also functions as an advocate and role model of competency in recovery and coping skills.

Responsibilities

• Model effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals
• Provide empowerment skills and support in successful recovery living
• Aid individuals in finding resources, advising on processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions
• Lead peer support groups with individuals served
• Support/assist individuals in daily decision-making and resolution of minor problems
• Facilitate social opportunities in the community
• Foster development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
• Share personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope

Requirements

• Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC or PA
• One year experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Pre-employment screening: Criminal background check, Name checked in registries
• Proof of employment history or references (if required)
• Driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle (if required for providing transportation for individuals)

Skills

• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
