About the role
Peer Specialists are fully integrated team members who promote client self-determination and decision-making. They provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to foster a culture where each client's perspective is recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of the Individualized Recovery Plan and explain its components to clients.
- Carry out duties as a team member, following the direction of the Program Manager and/or Coordinator.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with RGHS policies.
- Support and encourage clients to socialize, interact in a milieu setting, and facilitate social activity groups.
- Help clients who have experienced social stigma to feel accepted and affiliated.
- Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, side-by-side individualized support, problem-solving, and direct assistance to help clients obtain necessities of daily living.
- Promote client self-advocacy skills.
- Participate in staff meetings and treatment review meetings with PROS team, MD, and NP.
- Collaborate with the team to document consumer progress and maintain a permanent record of client activities according to the agency's established methods and procedures.
Requirements
- New York State Certified Peer Specialist required.
- Valid NYS Drivers License required.
- Reliable transportation required.

Skills
Knowledge of peer specialist roles, ability to communicate effectively, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working with individuals with mental health challenges.

Monday - Friday; Days, 8:00AM - 4:30PM or 9:00AM - 5:00PM
